This next thing I’m going to tell you is actually directly related - in more ways than one - to how Kael, himself, spasmed into existence in the first place…
…but I very desperately want to say as little about it as possible without leaving you lost.
So now, I’m going to try to tell you what you need to know about it, while dancing all the way the fuck around the specifics.
As much as I possibly can.
We’ll start here:
Once upon a time, I was hanging out with some people…
And, one of those people…
…knowing ABSOLUTELY DAMN WELL AND VERY THOROUGHLY that I have been trying like hell to run a men’s mental health community for some time now…
…stopped casting their glance back and forth across everybody in our physical circle of people having a conversation at the time - the way that one does when talking to a group of people…
…and locked eyes dead on me…
…and said very sharply, very pointedly, and with deliberate staccato in their voice:
“I. do. not. care. if. men. are. having. a. ‘loneliness. epidemic.’ They. are. not. lonely. enough. in. my. opinion.”
…she held my eye contact for an extra second or two.
…then continued on with whatever it was she was talking about. I’ve forgotten.
What I remember is the absolute pointedness of that sentence that she said directly to me.
…the extra one or two seconds she took to make damn sure that I heard it.
A day or two after that, I happened to be engaged in a fight with that exact same person for entirely different reasons.
The fight was un-hinged in a lot of ways.
Just… absolute destruction was flying all over the place.
Then, at one point, she decided to go after the “men’s mental health community” thing again.
She ripped into me over my “obsession with [my] godforsaken men’s mental health community.”
Then, she tacked on another little side note.
It was something like: “…which I question whether or not YOU, of all people, should be running anyway.”
I have my own speculations as to what, exactly, she meant by that particular addendum, but we’ll leave them be for our purposes here.
